It’s unclear what Aaron Rodgers is up to next season.
The longtime Green Bay Packers quarterback made one thing clear on the tee at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday.
“I’m not going to San Fran,” he said.
Rodgers has been repeatedly associated with the San Francisco 49ers in the past, especially since he was born in Northern California and played in California. While the 49ers have said Jimmy Garoppolo is almost certainly ready there, the team has both Brock Purdy and Trey Lance available for next season.
Rodgers has yet to say if he wants to continue playing next season, which would be his 19th in the league, let alone stay at Green Bay. The two-time MVP had one of his worst seasons last year, as the Packers also missed the playoffs. He threw for just 3,695 yards, the fewest he has had out of seasons where he missed significant time due to injuries, and threw 12 interceptions.
He has said in the past that he wanted to end his career at Green Bay, but said earlier this year that he would be open to other options, including reviewing his contract. Rodgers is guaranteed to make $60 million when he plays next fall.
That could result in . Rodgers’ longtime receiver Davante Adams continued his push to get Rodgers to Las Vegas as well.
Rodgers is playing on Tour this week with Ben Silverman at Pebble Beach. The two are linked to MJ Dauffe and singer Darius Rucker. He is one of several notable non-golf athletes to participate, including Josh Allen, Gareth Bale, Pau Gasol and Larry Fitzgerald.
At this point, it seems Rodgers isn’t ready to make a decision about his football future, other than ruling out the Bay Area, of course.
