The Ireland Cricket Team will tour Bangladesh for a full tour consisting of 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is and 1 Test. The tour kicks off on March 18 and this would be Ireland’s first tour in Bangladesh as the last was back in 2008. Ireland have played 3 Test matches after gaining status in 2018.
This ODI Series is not part of the World Super League, but with the World Cup just around the corner, both teams would want a lot of match practice, especially Ireland whose direct qualification for the 2023 World Cup is in doubt. Currently, Ireland is in 10th place with 68 points from 21 matches, while Bangladesh is already qualified.

Ireland Cricket on Tour
Ireland Chief Executive Warren Deutrom interacted with the media and was quite pleased with the tour. “We are delighted to confirm the Irish men’s multi-format seven-match tour of Bangladesh – and thank the BCB for their cooperation and support in arranging this month-long tour. Since the two sides first met in 1997, a great on-field rivalry has developed and we look forward to what looks to be another competitive series.” said Warren Deutrom.

“Of particular interest to players and fans alike will undoubtedly be the last match on the schedule – the match marks Ireland’s return to playing Test cricket. It will undoubtedly be a challenging experience in Asian conditions for our side, but it will be invaluable for the development of our players, knowing that we will be playing a lot of cricket in Asia in the years to come.” he added.
BCB on ICC FTP
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nizamuddin Chowdhury stressed on the ICC FTP. “Ireland’s visit to Bangladesh is another exciting event in our home season after the series against India and England. The BCB and Cricket Ireland have a cordial and strong relationship and the two boards have worked very closely together to organize this bilateral tour, despite the challenges of a busy international calendar. This is also a statement of the BCB’s commitment to the ICC FTP.” said Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

This tour promises to be exciting as Bangladesh is currently on a roll. The Bangladeshi Tigers recently smashed against all odds in India and made a statement that they are not a team that just joins. Ireland would be very happy if they played against one of the best teams.
