
Aug. 5—NEW LONDON — Abbie Durbin, of Plymouth, was one in every of 38 college students from all through the state who visited Washington, D.C., and different space factors of curiosity from June 18 to 24 as a part of Ohio’s Electrical Cooperatives, Inc.’s 2022 Youth Tour.
Durbin was sponsored by Firelands Electrical Cooperative, Inc. and joined greater than 1,200 different rural youths representing 28 states. As a part of their tour of the nation’s capital, college students met with members of their Congressional delegation, visited Arlington Nationwide Cemetery and the U.S. Capitol, and attended a efficiency on the Kennedy Middle for the Performing Arts.
For greater than 50 years, teenagers from rural America have been coming to Washington, D.C., on this “journey of a lifetime,” courtesy of their native sponsoring electrical cooperative, Ohio’s Electrical Cooperatives, and NRECA. The weeklong journey contains visits to a number of areas of historic and nationwide significance in and across the metropolis.
Abbie is the daughter of Angela and Joe Durbin and is a current graduate of Plymouth Excessive College. She plans to attend Tiffin College within the fall to check legal justice and forensic psychology.
