The New Zealand cricket team is said to be disappointed after losing the 1st ODI to India in Hyderabad. The Black Caps lost the game by just 12 runs where they scared the Men in Blue. New Zealand would regret that one of their best hitters had to lay a foundation that hurt them.
New Zealand batsmen looked a bit scratchy in the power play overs where they scored 42 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the batters doubted whether to charge. Michael Bracewell almost single-handedly took the team to the finish line as he hit 140 runs off 78 balls, 12 of which he hit fours and 10 sixes.

Skipper Tom Latham needs to hit more responsibly. The left-handed batter scored 24 runs in 46 balls of which he hit 3 fours. Latham should bat at number 4 as he is someone who could bring stability to the innings in the middle overs in the absence of Kane Williamson.
New Zealand must play their ‘A’ match against India in the 2nd ODI at Raipur on January 21. (Sunday). The visitors would hope that Ish Sodhi is available for selection as the leg spinner suffered a minus which saw him ruled out of the 1st ODI.

Disappointing we couldn’t cross the line – Tom Latham
During the post-match presentation, Tom Latham was asked about the performance of Michael Bracewell and the team. “It was a great innings (from Bracewell). From 131/6, to come and play an innings like that, for him to put our team in a situation to win the game, it’s excellent. Obviously disappointing that we couldn’t cross the line, but it was special. When you’re chasing and coming under pressure, it was special to give us a chance to win that game.” said Tom Latham.

India used many more cutters in the wicket – Tom Latham
“I think it probably had a bit more grip under lights, India used a lot more cutters in the wicket and it worked. Bracewell hit well and his partnership with Santner was very good to see.” he added.
