The Sri Lankan cricket team won the 2nd T20I match by 16 runs and now has the series squared. The island nation would be pumped up as it is never easy to beat any Indian side. The visitors caused chaos as they cut India to 39-4 in the power play-overs in the steep 207-run chase.

Skipper Hardik Pandya would be very disappointed in the batters. Dashing right-handed batter Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Axar Patel were involved in a mammoth 91-run partnership. Axar Patel played a stunning 65 runs in 31 balls, hitting 3 fours and 6 sixes, but couldn’t get the team across the finish line.

Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka is said to be very pleased with the team’s performance. The batsman previously hit a thunderstorm of 56 runs in 32 balls where he hit 2 fours and 6 sixes. It looked like he was playing with the bowlers as he whacked them all over the park.

Shanaka’s decision to throw over the 20th when India needed 21 runs proved to be quite fruitful. The all-rounder didn’t give the batters any room and hit the mark with his line & length. The skipper would be well aware of the fact that they need to work on their bowling in the middle overs phase.

During the post-match presentation, Shanaka was asked if it was a captain’s performance. “I think so. We could have done well in the middle. The game was dictated by the openers. Got to play well in the middle order for finishers to finish well. said Dasun Shanaka.
