
Legendary India Women’s National Cricket Team pacer Jhulan Goswami and former India Women’s National Cricket Team head coach WV Raman have been offered coaching roles by the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), according to a report in Sportster.
The WPL is likely to be played from March 4 to 24 and recently the BCCI sold the teams at auction in Mumbai, with the owners of Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, as well as Adani Group and Capri Holdings taking the bids. Delhi Capitals won the bid to operate the Team Delhi in the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) for INR 810 crore.

Meanwhile, Jhulan took 255 wickets for the India Women’s National Cricket Team in ODIs at an average of 22.04, an economy of 3.37 and a strike rate of 39.2 in her hugely successful career. The bowling legend played 12 Test matches and took 44 wickets at an average of 17.36, an economy of 2.02 and a strike rate of 51.5. Also, the 39-year-old represented India in 68 T20Is where she took 56 wickets at an average of 21.94, an economy of 5.45 and a strike rate of 24.1.
Jhulan Goswami retired from international women’s cricket with the most wickets in history as she has 355 wickets to her credit. She also has 43 wickets in Women’s World Cups, which is the record for most wickets in the major tournament.

Sourav Ganguly, the director of cricket at Delhi Capitals (DC), said management is confident that Goswami will accept the offer to become the WPL’s bowling coach.
“We have offered Jhulan the role of bowling coach and we are sure she will accept the offer,” Sourav Ganguly, the director of cricket at Delhi Capitals, said in the report.
Ganguly added that WV Raman who was the head coach of the India Women’s National Cricket Team from December 2018 to March 2021 has been given the head coach role with the franchise.
“WV has done a great job with the Indian team and that is why we offered him the position of head coach,” Ganguly, a former India captain and BCCI president, said in the report.
