The inaugural Women’s Premiere League (WPL) is expected to be the next big thing in the Franchise Circuit. The peculiarity of this league is that 5 foreign players would be allowed in the 11. Former Indian batsman Mithali Raj has been brought in as a mentor and advisor to Gujarat Giants where her experience would be invaluable.
The Women in Blue have made their mark at ICC events but fail to win any crucial moments of the match ruining all their hard work. The team has failed to find reliable finishers, which has been a concern since each time the best hitter won’t win the games.

Mithali Raj on WPL
Mithali Raj interacted with ICC and was asked if she was surprised about WPL. “I am not at all surprised that we have come this far, the Women’s Premier League in India is a huge development. I’ve been getting questions for years about when it would launch, so I hope we get a successful inaugural year and it expands in the future. said Mithali Raj.

Mithali Raj on joining WPL
Mithali Raj was asked if she would retire and play WPL.
“While I will not be playing, I am fortunate enough to serve as a mentor and advisor to the Gujarat Giants. There is no disappointment about not being in it, my journey as a cricketer was different and I was able to play my part in the evolution of the sport. I’m very happy to see women’s cricket get to where it is and excited to be part of the ecosystem,” said Mithali Raj.
“What’s great right now is that the women’s game is constantly evolving. Where 140 used to be a par score in a T20, now you see 160-180 plus chasing, and so many matches going to the wire. It’s certainly nerve-wracking and fun to watch.” she added.
