
STORRS, Connecticut (TBEN) — Alice Edwards had 23 points and led six players in double-digit scoring for ninth-place UConn in a 98-73 win over Seton Hall on Wednesday.
Caroline Ducharme and Nika Muhl each had 16 points and were a combined 8-of-11 from three-point range. Lou Lopez Senechal had 14 points, Aubrey Griffin added 13 points and seven rebounds, and Dorka Juhasz had 10 points and 10 rebounds for UConn (9-2, 2-0 Big East).
Sydney is cooking had 18 points and Lauren Park Lane finished with 17 to Seton Hall (9-4, 2-1), whose seven-game winning streak was broken.
UConn coach Geno Auriemma missed his second game in a row due to illness. Associate coach Chris Daily led the team and improved to 15-0 when Auriemma came on.
Muhl made her first three three-pointers as UConn jumped to the early 14-point lead. Then Ducharme started to find range, as she scored five points in less than a minute.
Seton Hall entered the game 10th out of 11 Big East teams in three-point shooting percentage, but shot 16 three-pointers in the first half. Shailyn Pinkney and Yes Jordan hit back-to-back three-pointers early in the second quarter to cut the lead to 14 points.
Ducharme, who was two of nine from three-point range in her last four games, connected with a pair of threes and UConn had a 53-31 halftime lead.
UConn began to dominate inside after halftime, taking 15 of 19 shots in the third quarter inside the three-point line to take a 38-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
