Sompo Int’l uses Berkshire’s Crozier for UK Retail Casualty
Sompo International Holdings Ltd., a global Bermuda-based specialty provider of property, casualty and reinsurance insurance, announced the appointment of Christian Crozier as senior vice president, head of UK Retail Casualty.
He is based in London and reports to Mike Reedexecutive vice president, head of Casualty, Global Markets, Commercial P&C Insurance.
Crozier has worked for over 25 years underwriting casualty insurance in the London market for leading international insurers. He joins Sompo International from Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, where he was senior casualty insurer for the UK and Southern Europe.
“Building on the foundations of our London wholesale business we are making significant progress in the development of our retail casualty offering and Christian is a powerful addition to our team. He is primarily focused on the UK and will be responsible for leading our retail accident segment,” said Reid.
“Working alongside colleagues from other product lines, multinational services, claims and risk engineering, he will help drive our value proposition to our customers as we continue to grow our customer base.”

AXA XL promotes Abend again to new real estate role in Bermuda
AXA XL Reinsurance announced has appointed Tristan Abbey effective December 15 in the newly expanded role of Head of Property, responsible for both U.S. and international affairs in Bermuda.
Abend has worked as part of the real estate team for AXA XL Reinsurance for over 10 years, where he held various roles, most recently including international product leader for the Real Estate segment and previously head of International Real Estate for Bermuda and London. He will now manage ownership deals for Bermuda in conjunction with AXA XL’s valued clients and talented underwriting team.

Gallagher Re nominates senior leaders The Netherlands
Gallagher Rethe global reinsurance broker, has announced the appointments of Bob Reichenfeld as director of the Netherlands, and Jordan Westerlo as Division Director, effective January 2, 2023.
As head of the Dutch office, Reichenfeld will succeed chairman Gerrit van Emst preparing to retire in the first half of 2023.
Reichenfeld brings a wealth of market knowledge and extensive reinsurance leadership experience to Gallagher Re from both the brokerage and carrier perspective. He was first MD of Reinsurance at Delta Lloyd in 2000 before moving into brokerage and taking the helm at several specialist reinsurance intermediaries in the Netherlands.

Westerloo joins from Amwins Re and brings with him deep reinsurance brokerage experience and specialist knowledge of the Dutch insurance and reinsurance market having previously worked as a reinsurance broker for Aon.
